Legal Voice: Feminist Activism from the body up
Feminist activist and thinker, Sara Longwe on Thursday 3 May 2012 gave a talk on “Legal Voice: feminist activism from the body up.” Longwe’s talk which took place at All Africa House, Middle Campus (UCT) is part of the AGI’s African Feminists: Talking the Walk programme.
Sara Longwe is one of the exciting feminist activists, thinkers and rebellious women of the continent; she was the chair of the African Women’s Development and Communications Network, and the backbone of several legally-oriented challenges to the state, which resulted in critical shifts to women’s status in Zambia and elsewhere. She will speak about some of her personal experiences of tackling legal activism. Copies of Feminist Africa 15 (2011), in which she has a feature piece will be available. Listen to podcast.
